Santa Monica, CA - Highways Performance Space presents Dale Madison’s new one-man show My Life in 3 Easy Payments as part of its summer-long Queer Performance Festival Behold! In My Life in 3 Easy Payments, Dale Madison speaks to the pop culture phenomenon of reality shows and the quest for fame at any cost. If you have basked in the shallow cloak of fame, can you ever really recapture it? Inspired by Sunset Boulevard, A Star is Born, Dreamgirls, drag queens, Diana Ross, Glee, music videos, African storytelling and his own unique experience of selling products on live television, Madison offers a humorous interactive story through spoken word, songs, storytelling and video footage of his life inspired from his memoir Dreamboy: My Life as a QVC Host & Other Greatest Hits.Highways Performance Space is located at 1651 18th Street, in Santa Monica, CA, ½ block north of Olympic Blvd. Tickets are $20 general admission and $15 for members/students/seniors. “I have wanted to do a show at Highways for the past eleven years I have been in Los Angeles” says Madison. “The stars finally seemed to align. I was finishing my master of arts in education at Antioch University when queer arts performer Ian MacKinnon did a presentation at our school. He invited me to Queer Mondays at Highways where I did a short excerpt. Leo Garcia saw me and the rest is queer history!”About Dale Madison:
Dale Madison is an acclaimed spoken word performance artist, educator, writer, actor, filmmaker and former host for the QVC network. The film version of his memoirs DREAMBOY: My Life as a QVC Host & other greatest hits. received “Best LGBT film at the 2008 San Diego Black Film Festival. His latest book is an adult fairy tale, Sissy Sammy in the land of WEHO90069. It is the story of a bullied feminine boy from the hood who gets lost in an all-gay town. Dale, a volunteer mentor with LifeWorks, is featured in the new I AM, WE ARE prevention campaign sponsored by WeHo Life. This campaign features organizations that offer Gay men opportunities for a positive experience in their own lives and a positive impact on the larger community.
